Sara Davis Gullett, age 90, passed away on Friday, February 23rd, 2024 at Arbor Springs Long Term Care Facility in Opelika, Alabama. Services for Mrs. Gullett will be Friday, March 1st at Fayette First Methodist Church in Fayette, Alabama at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with the burial to follow at the Fayette City Cemetery. Brother Chris Herbert will be officiating the service. Norwood-Wyatt Chapel will be directing the service. 

Sara Gullett is preceded in death by her parents; Marion Francis and Willinel Wheeler Davis, her brother; James (Jimmy) Melton Davis and her son; James Hoffman Gullett, Junior. 

Sara Gullett is survived by her husband of 67 years, James Hoffman Gullett of Fayette, Alabama, daughter, Ann Gullett (Keith) Martin of Auburn, Alabama, granddaughter, Sara Martin (Trey) Denney, great-grand daughter, Nora-Ann Grace Denney of Boulder, Colorado; nieces Harriet Davis Krueger of California and Nancy Davis Hays of Georgia, grandniece Sara Elizabeth Hays and grandnephew Matthew Davis Hays. 

Mrs. Gullett was born on August 28th, 1933 in Fayette, Alabama. She graduated from Fayette County High School in 1951. She then attended the University of Montevallo, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communications before receiving a master’s degree in library sciences from the University of Alabama. Mrs. Gullett was a teacher and librarian at Fayette Country High School for 36 years and influenced and transformed many students who still to this day love and adore her. Mrs. Gullett was a dedicated member of the Fayette Music Study Club, Fayette Progress Club II, Delta Kappa Gamma, and the Fayette Methodist Church and Chanel Choir. 

The Pallbearers will be Keith Martin, Scottie Porter, Mike Burnham, David Pearson, Theron Nolen, and Merrell Nolen. 

Honorary Pallbearers will be the First Methodist Church Chancel Choir and the staff of Arbor Springs Long Term Care Facility in Opelika, Alabama.
