Cause of death: Metastatic Breast Cancer
Donna Bowling Nathan, age 55, passed away at her home in Birmingham, Alabama, surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 2, 2019 after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.
She was born on October 14, 1963 in Fayette, Alabama. Donna attended Fayette County High School and later went on to graduate summa cum laude from the University of Alabama in 1986. She received her juris doctor degree from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1989.
Donna was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Kingdom Builders Sunday school class. She was a devoted member of Divine Design Discipleship for many years and was involved in Family Promise Ministry, which provides meals for families. One of her greatest joys was discipling a group of young women. She was also an active member of her book club, the Lady Lizards and loved spending time with her life long friends, the Ya-Ya's. Donna selflessly loved her Lord, her family, and John her husband of 24 years. All who knew her loved her warm smile, friendly nature, and relentless positive spirit.
Donna is survived by her husband, John Harrington Nathan; her children, Rhea Fonde Nathan, Sarah Winston Nathan, and John Harrington Nathan Jr.; her mother Patricia McCabe and her husband Neil McCabe; her brother Bill (Margaret) Bowling; her brother Rick (Daphne) McCabe; her sister Donna McCabe (the late Jim) Barton.
Donna is preceded in death by her father Gary Bowling.
The family will greet friends at 10:00AM on Wednesday, February 6 at Covenant Presbyterian Church (65 Old Montgomery Hwy) with the memorial service beginning at 11:00AM.

What a wonderful friend and a wonderful Christian Lady you were Donna. It does not seem real that you have been taken from us. You always had a smile on your face everytime I would see you. You will be missed very much. I know that your in a better place now with no pain. Looking forward to the day wel all will be together again. God has a wonderful angle. Love ya, Mark
